- NDTV reported that French Interior Minister Nicolas Sarkozy said that Iran had "made itself into an outlaw nation" and must not be allowed to develop nuclear weapons.
- Eli Lake, The New York Sun reported on the attack on the US embassy in Syria.
- The New York Sun reported that historian Bernard Lewis warned that the U.S. may lose the war on terror. He said during the darkest days of the fight against Nazism he "had no doubt that in the end we would triumph." But he does not "have that certitude now."
- The Independent reported that Ahmadinejad's exhibition of cartoons about the Holocaust, some suggesting it was fabricated or exaggerated, has been a flop in Tehran. It attracts just 50 people a day.
- The Telegrah reported that Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf's government had authorized the release from jail of 2,500 Al Qaeda and Taliban fighters caught fighting coalition forces in Afghanistan.
- Power Line commented on NRO's Corner yesterday, Michael Ledeen drew attention to an article by Steven Knipp on Knipp's two-week visit to Iran. " The bottom line is that the Iranian people love America, and they do not, not, not, like Ahmadinejad."
- President Bush, The White House in a major speech at the Capital Hilton Hotel outlined the National Strategy For Combating Terrorism and said "America will not bow down to tyrants."
- Newsweek International reported on Ahmadinejad: How Popular Is He Really?
- John Pohoretz, The New York Post reported that President Bush just delivered what may be the most important speech of his presidency. The time has come, the president all but said yesterday, to take the gloves off with Iran.
- The Wall Street Journal reported that in a major speech President Bush quoted extensively from recent threats by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad such as his call for "a world without the United States and Zionism."
- Reuters reported that a major transatlantic opinion survey showed most French and Americans would support military action against Iran as a last resort if other means fail to stop it acquiring nuclear weapons.
- The Boston Globe reported on the visit of Khatami to the US and argued that when it comes to Iran, the Bush administration has been consistent only in its inconsistency. Time and again it has condemned the Tehran regime and time and again it has failed to back up those condemnations with action.
- The Wall Street Journal reported that the Bush administration is seeking to isolate a network of European and Middle Eastern banks and companies controlled by the Iranian government that U.S. official's suspect Iran is using to acquire sophisticated weapons technology.
- Marc Sumerlin, The Weekly Standard reported how the new Treasury Secretary can help in a showdown with Iran.
- Rachel Makabi, Newsweek International interviewed Reza Pahlavi to get his thoughts on the standoff, the effectiveness of U.S. policy toward Iran and his ongoing work with Iranian dissidents. Reza described Iran's standoff with the West as a "Race against time."
- Stanley Kurtz, The National Review Online argued that American politics is about to undergo a sea change. Our lives are going to be transformed on a more personal level as well. Sometime between now and five-to-ten years from now we’re going to be forced to choose between preemptive war with Iran, and living in a post-proliferation world. A must read.
- The New York Sun argued that the world, it seems, has passed this way before. The summer's events in south Lebanon, Iraq, London, Afghanistan, North Korea and, above all, Iran, have filled the air with a sense of foreboding that few except the very oldest among us have ever felt. We appear to be teetering on the edge of a catastrophe.
- David Frum, National Post reported that the US dollars Hezbollah has been handing out to Lebanese whose home were destroyed in the conflict are counterfeit.
- Caroline Glick, The Jerusalem Post reported on the failure of the mainstream media to critically report the news and lauded the growing role of the blogosphere to correct the record.
- Zaman.com reported that U.S. Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld indirectly warned Iran that the U.S. army was capable of waging another war somewhere else. “We are capable of dealing with other problems, were they to occur.”
- The Boston Globe reported that Iranians have NOT been flocking to the museum in Tehran where 204 winning entries in the ``Holocaust International Cartoon Contest" are on exhibit.
- Asian Tribune, in a report published August 12th, claimed that a Voice of America correspondent, Matiur Rahman Chowdhury, called reports that the British foiled a mega terror plot a "game of the British government." Chowdhury made his comments in a local TV interview. Chowdhury went on to accuse "western governments," and in particular the United States and the United Kingdom, of deliberately fabricating the terror plot to deflect world attention from what he called "Hezbollah victories."
- The Washington Times reported that Newt Gingrich in an impromptu speech said "I am opposed to a military strike on Iran because I don't think it accomplishes very much in the long run." Instead he argued "we need a strategy to replace the regime."
- The New York Sun reported that while the West's war on terror is going tactically well enough, with its mission to put out fires here and there before they start. But it sorely misses the larger strategy that must be implemented. Just like the war on communism, the war on terror must combine the force of arms with the power of ideas.
- Govindini Murty, FrontPageMag, a conservative film critic reported that she attended an advance screening of ABC’s epic miniseries "The Path to 9/11" (airing this September 10-11), and came away enormously impressed.
- Alan Peters, Anti-Mullah published his response to a common criticism of the Iranian people by Americans which he considers a total disconnect of the American mind from reality in Iran.
- Tariq Alhomayed, Asharq Alawsat argued that what we are witnessing today is not a by-product of the issue of Iran's nuclear activities, but rather something more important which is Iran’s resumption of exporting the "Islamic revolution."

- Iran Press News reported that the brother of Hassan Rowhani, the Islamic regime’s ex-nuclear negotiator is now the Islamic cultural attaché in the United States. But some are alleging his job title is just a "cover."
- Masood Faruvar, The Wall Street Journal examined the question of whether a Sunni-Shia war will soon engulf the new Middle East.
- Michael J. Totten, Reason reported that in Iraqi Kurdistan, the war is already over. There are no insurgents in Kurdistan. Nor are there any kidnappings.
- Ann Leslie, The Daily Mail argued why Ahmadinejad should give us all nightmares.
- A. Yasmine Rassam, Los Angeles Times argued that if the antiwar crowd and Democrats have their way, the United States will be Iran's hostage once again.
- Bloomberg reported that the Iranian military forces handed back control of an oil rig seized yesterday in the Persian Gulf to its Romanian owners. But then...
- Dow Jones Newswires reported that lawyers for Romanian oil services company GSP, are on their way to Tehran to negotiate a release of an oil rig that has been taken over by Iranians.
- FrontPageMagazine.com in an interview with Regnar Rasmussen discussed: How the Soviets gave the Mullahs the bomb.
- Charles Krauthammer, The Washington Post argued that the conventional wisdom about President Bush is that the cowboy has been retired. Multilateralism is back. Diplomacy is King. American diplomacy on Iran has, up until now, been defensible.
- The Times Online reported on the Secret war being waged in Iraqi Kurdistan’s isolated Kandil mountain range. Since April Iran has been bombing the area, an attempt by the Islamic republic to curry favour with Turkey.
- Roger Scruton, The Wall Street Journal examined the term "Islamofascism" and that the word provides a convenient way of announcing that you are not against Islam but only against its perversion by the terrorists. But this prompts the question whether terrorism is really as alien to Islam.
- Amil Imani, Persian Journal argued that "useful idiots" are Islam's best soldiers and that this new generation of "useful idiots" also lives in liberal democracies but serves the cause of Islamofascism.
- The Detroit News reported that 58 percent of Americans in the poll think Iran is now the "main promoter of Islamic fascism in the Middle East," and 76 percent believe Iran must be prevented from obtaining nuclear weapons "at any cost."
- Sydney Morning Herald reported on the changing face of Iran. A very interesting report.
- Caroline Glick, The Jerusalem Post provided evidence of the coming wars she fears soon will come to the Middle East and warns that Israel is not yet prepared for it.
- Michael Slackman, The New York Times provided an important lesson for Americans in the fine Iranian art of hiding what you mean to say. A must read.
- Amil Imani, The Family Security Matters untangled facts from myth in understanding the Muslim mindset.
- John Batchelor, The New York Sunconsidered why is America apparently waiting to be attacked by Iran before acting on the threat?
- Lee Smith, The Weekly Standard questioned whether Hezbollah is an invincible as the media is making it out to be.
- Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, The Weekly Standard reviewed George Michael's new book The Enemy of My Enemy: The Alarming Convergence of Militant Islam and the Extreme Right, about the unlikely alliance between Islamic radicals and the neo-Nazi far right.
- Insight Magazine reported that Bush and Condi have clashed over Israel; with the president overruling her for the first time. "I've never seen her so angry," an aide said.
- Nidra Poller, TCS Daily discussed "French Duplomacy" and how France is trying to impose on its American partner.
- Alan Peters, AntiMullah considered the question: Will Lebanese Army sent to the south include Hezbollah fighters in disquise?
- Robert Tracinski, RealClearPolitics argued that the new Lebanon War is a war in which everyone knows the enemy's strategy, in which it is child's play to see through all of his ruses and propaganda tricks--and yet our leaders, rather than devising their own counter-strategy, fall for every ruse and play along,
- Caroline Glick, The Jerusalem Post argued that Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad is the man to watch these days. And yet it would seem that those in positions of power are paying him little heed.
- Dennis Prager, Real Clear Politics argued that whenever you hear that "world opinion" holds a view, assume it is morally wrong. He explains why.
- The Times Online in an editorial argued that the West must remember what the Middle East conflict is about, a question of values.
- David Warren, Real Clear Politics asked what happened to all the coverage from Qana? As usual, when the "liberal" media begin to realize they've been had, the story disappears. But it is never properly corrected. An examination of the underreported aspects of the story. A must read.
- Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, The Weekly Standard explained: Why The Jihadist's Fight, in a review of Professor Mary Habeck's book Knowing the Enemy: Jihadist Ideology and the War on Terror. A must read.
- Alan Peters, AntiMullah published a retrospective on his reign on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the death of Mohammad Reza Pahlavi (1919-1980). He compared the Monarch to what followed.
- Time Magazine reported that while Hizballah may be Tehran's client, the conflict hasn't been welcomed by many Iranians. Iranian's are saying, "We should mind our own business and concentrate on policies that are good for our economy, and our kids."
- Dan Darling, The Weekly Standard reported that US intelligence has again been caught off guard by the sophisticated weapons being deployed by our enemies, this time in Lebanon.
- Thomas Joscelyn, The Weekly Standard reported that al Qaeda's Zawahiri's statements: "We cannot just watch these shells as they burn our brothers in Gaza and Lebanon and stand by idly, humiliated," runs counter to the conventional wisdom of many in the intelligence community.
- Ilan Berman, American Foreign Policy Council testifying before the Joint Economic Committee of the United States Congress and said while there is no greater foreign policy challenge facing the United States today than the one posed by the Islamic Republic of Iran, there has been little public discussion about the economic dimension of the current crisis in Iran. A must read.

- James S. Robbins, The National Review Online reported that until last week, Hezbollah has enjoyed virtual immunity in the war on terrorism. It appears that immunity is now over.
- John Batchelor, The New York Sun argued that Iran expects America to launch air attacks against Iranian command and control, air defenses and nuclear weapons-making and ballistic missile sites by winter, perhaps as early as October 2006.
- Frederick Kempe, The Wall Street Journal argued why the new atomic age requires a new nonproliferation strategy.
- The Washington Post reported that President Bush is facing a new and swiftly building backlash on the right over his handling of foreign affairs. They perceive timidity and confusion about long-standing problems including Iran and North Korea.
- Mehdi Khalaji, The Washington Institute for Near East Policy reported that while westerners believe Iranian president Mahmoud Ahmadinezhad to be popular in Iran, in no small part because of his strong support for Iran’s nuclear program. However, there is much evidence to the contrary. A must read.
- The Washington Times reported that young Iranians are turning increasingly to the Internet to voice their dissatisfaction with a hard-line regime and argued that the United States could make better use of blogs, satellite television, radio and other means to communicate information that the regime withholds from its public.
- The National Review Online examined the accusation that Israel is using a “disproportionate use of force.” He asked Europe, if missiles were falling on Strasbourg, Nancy, Lille, Dijon, and Paris would Chirac’s concern be to respond only in “proportion”?
- Iran Press News reported that officials in Bulgaria stopped a truck carrying radio active materials to Iran.
- The New York Times reported that there is a huge amount of anger in Iran about what is happening in Lebanon. In interviews in Tehran, person after person said the same thing: Iran should worry about Iran’s problems and not be dragged down by others’ battles.
- Moshe Yaalon, New Republic argued that while for years, we were told that the “root cause” of the Middle East’s problems was the Israeli occupation of Arab lands. It is now time to consider whether the conflict is the result of different “root causes”: namely, Iran, Syria.
- James Kitfield, National Journal argued that the United States went to war with the wrong country, Iraq and argued Iran was and is the greater threat.
- Reuters confirmed our earlier report about Iran's successful effort to ban the IAEA's Chief inspector from Iran. Interestingly, this report does not mention El Baradei's role in this.
- The Times Online reported on what it called the West's 'Secret War' to keep nuclear N. Korea and Iran in check.
- Iran Focus reported that after the European Parliament (EP) adopted a resolution accusing Tehran of obstructing freedom of expression on the internet, the official Iranian news agency IRNA reported the EP resolution and listed all the states but one on the blacklist: Iran.
- Slater Bakhtavar, Persian Journal reported on the ascent of the radical Hojjatieh movement in the Iranian leadership which Ayatollah Khomeini once opposed for being too radical.
- Bill Samii, Radio Free Europe reported that a banned and clandestine religio-political group in Iran, the secretive Hojjatieh Society, is making a comeback and the public might never know just how pervasive the Hojjatieh Society's activities really are.Zogby International released a survey which reports that Iranians (41%) said reforming their national economy so it operates more efficiently is more important than nuclear capability. I also made a few observations.
- Mehran Riazaty reminded us of the history of Hezbollah of Lebanon, its ties with Iran and how this explains the recent crisis in the Middle East.
- Joel Mowbray, The Washington Times reported that in a stunning move, Karen Hughes sided with the Democratic members of the Broadcasting Board of Governors earlier this month in shooting down the Republicans' preferred candidate to head up U.S. radio services who would like to return to the principles that proved so effective during the Cold War, namely targeting key decision makers with serious programming laced with the values and ideals inherent to free societies. What's up with Karen?
- The Wall Street Journal reminded us of the history of North Korea efforts to sell missile technology to Iran and the problem our these nations developing nuclear weapons.
- Bruno Schirra, writing for the German website Die Welt just published a report that the IAEA tried to stop entitled: Atomic Secrets: The man who knew too much. This is the first time the IAEA’s Chief Inspector, Chris Charlier, has spoken out publicly. We have just translated the report.
- Rooz Online reported that while Ahmadinejad claims to be battling corruption in the Iranian regime, his brother has been accused of embezzling $2 Million dollars in contracts with the IRGC. His brother is currently the head of the president’s inspector's office whose responsibility is to track and investigate government corruption and fraud.
- RIA Novosti reported that Tehran is prepared to assist in releasing four Russian diplomats abducted by Al Qaeda insurgents in the Iraqi capital. By making this statement, Iran has admitted it's over Al Qaeda.
- Deutsche Presse-Agentur reported that Iran is to hold its controversial proposed conference on the Holocaust in October.
- Alan Peters, AntiMullah believes he knows why Iran Chose Mid-August to respond to the Perm-5 nuclear offer.
- The Telegraph reported the belief amongst most intelligence agencies is that a chemical, biological, radiological or nuclear (CBRN) attack, using a so-called dirty bomb, is now inevitable.
- Potkin Azarmehr, Azarmehr Weblog said the Islamic Republic think tank units expertly target the Western newspaper journalists who have the potential of opinion making. Through their "officials" they feed these "experts" with their "sources" of information. A must read.
- Rooz Online reported that the Islamic Republic of Iran spent $350 million to equip and arm 2 brigades of Baseej mass-mobilization forces with heavy weapons. These two brigades had been involved in crushing the student protests. (This is just the latest investment, but the US Senate still can't seem to approve the White House's request for $75 million to support the Iranian opposition.) A must read.
- RIA Novosti reported that Russia's defense minister confirmed a Ukrainian firm supplied China and Iran with six long-range cruise missiles in 2000-2001. The missiles were the Soviet Kh-55 Granat missiles (NATO reporting name AS-15 Kent) with nuclear capacity.
- Reuters reported that as many as 30,000 Iranian exiles affiliated with the NCRI/MEK rallied near Paris on Saturday, calling on Western powers to prevent Iran from developing a nuclear bomb and urging democratic change in Tehran. The NCRI/MEK is considered a terrorist group by the US government.
- Middle East Report Online published a historical analysis of the Iranian women's movement. An interesting read.
- Jonathan Paris, Prospectives explains how Iranian President Ahmadinejad is seeking to galvanize Muslims throughout the world behind a radical vision of puritanical Islam that rejects the liberal democratic model to become the next "Nasser" of the Islamic world.
- Peter Brooks, New York Post argues that given that the United States has given Pakistan $700 million a year in aid, Islamabad should be pressed to give us access to A.Q. Khan - the only outsider with insider knowledge of Tehran's nuclear program.
- The Wall Street Journal reported on the division inside of Iran between the Iran/Iraq war revolutionaries and the Iranian youth.
- Richard Miniter & Daveed Gartenstein-Ross, The Weekly Standard reported that nearly every major media outlet has fallen for at least one of the three major myths concerning Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
- The Wall Street Journal reported that Nobel peace laureate Elie Wiesel said his family might have escaped death under Hitler had they listened to the warnings of what was coming back in 1942. He feels compelled to warn the world about what is coming with Ahmadinejad.
- FOX News reported that a growing chorus of Bush's critics on the right wants a tougher U.S. approach to Iran.
- Daveed Gartenstein-Ross & Adam White, The Weekly Standard reviewed the circumstances behind the administration's decision not to kill Abu Musab al-Zarqawi in 2002.
- CNET News reported that internet web surfers frustrated by government censorship in search engines are increasingly turning to a little-known Internet browser with a big following, Maxthon.
- The New York Times reported on the Iranian and Syrian governments, and their people, are tightening relations on several fronts as power in the region shifts away from the once dominant Sunni to Shiites, led by Iran. But it is creating concerns inside Syria.
- Iran Focus reported that several key agents of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security operating in countries bordering Iran have gone on the run from their terror masters in Tehran.
- The New York Post reported that New York City Police Commissioner Ray Kelly warned that Iran has an "aggressive" spy program targeting New York City, "they are not going to other cities to do it. They are doing it here in New York. They are aggressively surveilling us."
- The Christian Science Monitor reported that Hamas or Hezbollah are now in the awkward position of having to decide whether to bend to popular opinion and end their drive to eliminate Israel.

- The Financial Times reported that President Mahmoud Ahmadi-Nejad will need to spend an extra 5 Billon Dollars this year to pay for subsidies on sales to motorists of imported petrol.
- Spiegel published its aggressive interview with Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad discussing the Holocaust, the future of the state of Israel, mistakes made by the United States in Iraq and Tehran's nuclear conflict with the West.
- Alan Peters, AntiMullah said publishing of the names and addresses of these radicals is a one way of reducing the violent suppression of the Iranian opposition.
- Mehran Riazaty sees a connection between the deadly traffic accident Monday involving U.S. troops sparked the worst rioting in the Afghan capital since the fall of the Taliban government, and Afghanistan's President Hamid Karzai's trip to Iran.

Particularly so since most of Al Qaeda's senior operatives operate freely inside of Iran.

- Rooz Online reported that Dr Hassan Rowhani, the former chief of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and current advisor to ayatollah Khamenei, recently "met a group of American strategists who can convince the American government of their views. They are the same strategists who succeeded in resolving the 1986 nuclear crises between the US and the Soviet Union.”
- Fouad Ajami, US News & World Report argued that Iran's "revolution" is not in a "final phase" but has instead entered an "apocalyptic phase," as Bernard Lewis, the great historian of Islam, recently warned.
- ASUCLA Student Media reported that Shirin Ebadi at UCLA was met with as much opposition Monday night. The 2003 Nobel Peace laureate came to UCLA to speak of her new book, but several protesters interrupted her speech claiming Ebadi is a spy for the Iranian regime.
- Congressman Jim Saxton, The Washington Times argued that given Iran's huge oil and gas resources, Iran has no need for its much more costly nuclear program. However, support for terrorism and economic mismanagement have damaged oil and gas development in Iran.
- Charles Krauthammer, The Chicago Tribune wrote that for the first time in 1,871 years there are once again more Jews living in Israel than anywhere in the world and given that Iran is seeking the nuclear bomb it makes Israel is a tempting target for those who would finish Hitler's work.
- The New York Times reported that Iranian exiles in 'Tehrangeles' are split on how the U.S. should sway Iran.
- FOX News released the finds from a new poll in which 85 percent of Americans say they do not trust Iran to tell the truth about their nuclear technology program.
- Amil Imani, The Persian Mirror said Noble Peace Prize winner Shirin Ebadi, instead of becoming the voice of the voiceless and using her Noble status to speak about the atrocities of the Islamic Republic has used her platform to speak against the war on terror, and to criticize the United States.
